does anybody know what the purpose of this stuff is?

also, why do people add it to finch mix? its actually toxic to humans.
motivation ceases to be a problem when the soul moves in the right direction.

I haven't used it but I do want to get a little to try. As I understand - it is used in very small amounts in a container (like a plastic canister that holds a roll of 35mm film) with a hole or two poked into it and then it is placed in the container of birdseed. This is to ward off or perhaps kill any seed moths.

I hope someone corrects me if I have that wrong or missed sometihng.

Sean,

You have asked a very good question my young apprentice. It's like using the force to keep moths out of your seed. Sorry, couldn't help getting a Star Wars plug in.

Orange oil extract is used to keep seed moths out of and from developing in seed mixes. We use it our seed mixes instead of using co2 or nitrogen to keep bugs out. When you open a bag using gas to keep bugs out the gas escapes and oxygen is introduced and in time seed moths will develope. With orange oil extract wears out you just ad another drop to the cotton ball to refresh it.

You guys must have a real problem your way with moths.i store up to 500 kgs at a time off seed and have had no problems up to now.I do store it in 44 and 20 gallon drums though.I do get moths in with meal worms.might be the climate ,it is not a very warm climate here.
