I was wondering the same thing, I have a couple different species and I know the gouldians need the extra iodine but not sure if the non-australian species can tolerate any extra...

I give liquid iodine diluted in drinking water to my Goulds, Stars and Society Finches (who are fosting 1 gould baby). When one gets it - they all get it. Same for alternate days of vitamins or calcium in the drinking water.

I have African, Asian, and Australian, and they all get the same. When I add iodine to the water, they all get that same water. The only difference I do is that the Gouldians get powdered kelp free choice in their cages. I should probably offer the powdered kelp to all the Australian finches, since they would have the same dietary needs, you would think, but I'm not going to offer powdered kelp to the other finches. Now if I had a community aviary with Goulds as part of the population, I would offer the kelp free choice for all the birds in that aviary.

Thanks for the confirmation of serving the same drinking water to all your different speicies, Sally! Good to know.
