Where can I get the best spray millet?

I have 4 baby goulds that just recently fledged and they are going tru the spray millet like it is candy. I have bought spray millet from 3 different places and some of it is very small and darker and the birds hate it. One time I got the best spray millett that was huge and golden in color. Do you know the best place to get it at the most economical price. I think what I like the best is the California Spray Millet. I emailed them to see if I could buy it direct but have not heard back.
Thanks
Terry

The owners of California Spray Millet are not the quickest when it comes to e-mailing. They are farmers and don't seem to keep the fast pace that some of do, but they are really nice people and they have great millet.
We are a distributor for California Spray Millet. (We have been for almost two years and we are still not on their website as such.

) It is the biggest golden millet we can get. I think you'll find our prices to be about as good as you can get. We keep our orders huge to keep prices down since freight costs have increased so much this past year, but so far we have not had to increase our prices on it.
Here is the link to our page for California Spray Millet.

That's funny! My Gbs LOVE the dark small (red) millet best! Maybe because they are so small.

I buy mine at the bird marts. It is about the same price a fairest finches minus the shipping.

Shipping is killing all of us, you'd think it would be coming down for now with the gas prices down so much. I think the Golden Farms California Spray millet is the best I have found, and if you have any bird marts near you, usually someone will have it in 5 or 25 lb. boxes.

This won't help you right now but next summer you could try growing your own millet like I did. It actually grew quite well for me here in MN. Hopefully I won't ever have to buy any more.

Thanks for the links! I am definitely growing my own next year. I imagine you could sow some seed every couple of weeks, so then have a continuous supply of fresh, plus some green seeds to offer on a regular basis.

use a tray or dish that you can lift easily. fill it with dirt, throw in a handful of your seed mix, add water and wait. helps to have a few such trays in use all at different stages of growth so that they can be rotated through the cage/aviary as required. or the seed can be harvested while green and frozen to be used when needed. doesnt even need to be thawed before making it available to the birds.

What a great idea. Thanks Maldito..
I will be joining the others in growing my own next Spring. I wonder how my birds would like fresh millet.. and hopefully if I do it right.. I'll have a supply of dried.. guess I need to do more research.
