What brand of finch seed mix do your birds eat best?
What brand of finch seed mix do your birds most fully eat without leaving uneaten seeds that they do not like?

I recently purchased from Fairest finches, they have their own blend and my birds seem to love it. All I find is the empty hulls every morning. I also mix the miracle meal in with the seeds and they eat most of that too.
Another good seed I've tried and my birds liked was Noah's Kingdom. It was always very fresh and had bee pollen but it's kind of expensive.

I have only a few Gouldian finches but trust me I have tried every seed mix that I can think of to see which they like best. And it seems to change. First Higgins Vita Finch and they loved it then seemed to get bored - then Herman Bros EM Finch Mix and they really ate it well for a couple of weeks then I tried Frisky Finch blend and they are eating it best right now. I think they just like the variety....so, needless to say I have all of these brands here and vary between them. I have now ordered some Volkman that should be in any day now - only because I have heard some people say their finches love it.
Whatever they want they get around here.

I buy the 5lbs bags at Walmart and they all like that the best. They eat everything in the mix. I trieds expensive ones but they pick through it and they dont eat as much. Like they dont like it so i stick with walmart for the seeds, but i do go to a breeders store to buy the fruit and vegetable mixes and oystershells and millet.

I had been buying the different seeds at the bird mart and mixing my own. That worked great and they loved it. But at the last bird mart I got two 20 pound bags of Neterlands Vita Seeds (it was a trade)
and they really like it. The only thing about it is that it has some colored seeds in it and I really prefer not to have that.

I use Higgins finch seed mix right now. I used to feed them Kaytee egg-cite which they seemed to leave a lot behind, especially the little pellets in them. The societies normally have nothing left of the Higgins (I started having to feed them even more, its like they have any endless pit for a stomach with this stuff) and the others tend to eat almost as much as them, but dont seem to be as picky as they were with the egg cite.

For seed I also feed the Higgins Vita. I buy a 25 pound bag of finch and a 25 pound bag of canary and mix the two half and half. My birds love it! I love the fact too that when I pour it in their feeders there is no dust. Some other seed mixes I used to use had tons of dust fly up. I read that they triple clean the seed. Very nice stuff!!
