Just wondering who gives couscous to thier birds?
I fill a coffee cup approx 1/2 full of Couscous and then I add just enough water for the coucous to absorb it up.Once it aborbs the water I mix in a little Prime and a little avi-culture and some poppy seeds. They eat everything up

I just use cold water.I usually give it to my birds a couple of times a month.I shake poppy seeds on it also once the water gets aborbed up or otherwise the "Prime" I mix in with it goes into the water and you loose it.
Wait until the water is aborbed and then add what you like to the couscous.Hope this helps!

couscous is a type of pasta.. right?
I do love it, but is there a nutritional value to the birds? I'm just asking in my ignorance.

Yes it is a pasta - if/when I've fed it - I always get the whole grain organic couscous.
Any whole food has some degree of nutritional value, but you just have to avoid the over processed white grains.

Thanks nixity..
Don't know that I'll be giving that to my birds. I'll probably eat it myself.
Does anyone feed cooked barley to their birds? I love that too.
I do

I do as part of my daily "fresh" (er, frozen...) food mix. I did the whole grain organic. They eat everything in the mix and seem to like it.

Just learned something else here - I thought couscous was a rice-type of food. Now I know better!
I feed cooked barley to my parrots in their mix of fresh/frozen veggies that I cook for them. I remember eating Campbells Beef with Barley soup years ago. Mmmm, good!

I have those memories of Campbells soup too.. I liked the barley best. Guess that's why I cook it up for myself.
My birds don't like Kale. I finally found it in a store.
They don't like the free food a lot of us received either.
finicky finces. oh well..
They had some Romaine tonight. I know they like that.
I'll cook up some barley and offer it to them soon and I'll let you know.
