I have a Double flight cage and want to use a seed hopper however the seed hopper I have is too narrow to hang on the door so I'm thinking of placing it on the floor of the cage. Is this going to be a problem?

Also does anyone know where I can get a larger (wider) seed hopper so it will fit the width of the door?

Also as for water that is given to your birds thru a bottle with a spout has anyone used this king of product for their finches. Just thinking it would be a good idea if I was gone for a long weekend and to just use this as a water device for the finches but has anyone used it with sucess and how do you get the bird to use it?

With my parrot he caught on with me just touching the spout but I don't think the goulds would catch on that quickly. Any Ideas?

Re the seed hopper, I have the same ones on my single and double flight cages. They fit fine on the water/food doors. What door did you want to place it on? How wide are your doors?

If you have the HQ double flight, the seed hoppers that Red Bird and Just Bird Stuff sell will fit the feed doors along the bottom of the cage. They are just barely wide enough, so if you have small waxbills, you have to make sure the hopper is centered in the opening--with larger birds, should not be a problem.

I used Water Buddies at one time, and some finches took to it right away, but I have smaller waxbills, and they don't seem to be able to use them. I use tube-type waterers that hold enough for several days. You could also hang more waterers.

I just looked at the link you posted for the seed hopper, and that looks like the same one that Red Bird and Just Bird Stuff carry. It doesn't fit the feed doors on your flight cage?

the door is wide and the seed hopper is not that wide so there is a large gap between the seed hopper and the side of the door opening.

I may have to place a grate to make the door opening smaller, the width that is.
