Wheat grass is suppose to be great for your birds. I grew some pots of it and put out the first one today. They went crazy for it. Here is a link I found on the advantages of giving your birds wheat grass.

I bought some a few weeks ago. The gouldians haven't touched it so far, and the zebs tried to use it for thier nest.

All animals love wheat grass. I use to sell it from my grooming shop.
My cats love it, really important nutritionally for inside cats. Birds of all kinds love it.
You are a good finch Mom to grow it for them

Donna,
That looks really good!
Where did you get the seeds to grow this? Local?
That link wouldn't open for me?
I can't wait until that bird house is done!!! It will be so much easier to feed things like this to a few flights instead of so many cages.
By the way I think I spotted that little ham in the two pictures.

Misty when I click on the site it opens.... I don't know why it's not opening for you.
I got the seed at Burson's feed store up on the square. It was ten dollars for a nice large bag.
It takes less than a week to get a nice stand of grass. Some just cut the grass with some scissors, but I just put the pot in the aviary. They love it.
And according to the article it has great health advantages for your birdies.

Misty,
I am not sure why that link would not open for you. It opens when I click on it.
I got the seeds at Bursons feed store on the square. It was about ten dollars for the bag. It grows really fast. I soak the seeds over night and then lay them flat in a wet paper towel for another 24 hours. Then they will have little sprouts on them . Put them in your pot with ORGANIC soil because the birds will pick around in the dirt also. Some just cut the top of the grass with scissors, but I just put the whole pot in there. The first cutting has the most health benefits.
Yes.... .that is your little ham you spotted in there. You have to spoil him too now when you get him okay?

Donna,
I got it to open this time.
Ok - next question where do you get organic soil in Carrollton?!
I hope "Ham" will like the new bird house as much as he enjoys yours.

Donna,
Are you buying the big bag that they sell from the parking lot? Or is there a small bag inside the store? I looked at the Villa Rica Wal-Mart and I didn't see anything at all anywhere...
I'll have a look in Carrollton tomorrow.

Misty, I got mine at the Bremen store and it is inside. A small bag in the back near the garden center. They also may have some at Bursons when you go there to get your seed. If you can't find it , let me know and I will pick up a bag for you on Saturday.
