Societies & cuttlebone

My society finches don't eat the cuttlebone like my zebras.
They bite off/nibble the edges of the cuttlebone, vs the zebras who peck at the flat of the cuttlebone. I can hear the cuttlebone cracking as they nibble at the edges.

My concern is for the hatchlings/nestlings they feed. I read that one should not give egg shells to finches when they are raising, as I guess the chips of the egg shells might harm the chick. But then, what of the cuttlebone chips?

I always make sure to give plenty of hardboiled eggfood with the shell to all my breeding finches - so the babies certainly get it too.

Personally I would not worry about the cuttlebone - it's in all my breeding cages too - even the Societies.
