Yet another question. I add coconut oil, a little ground chia seed and powder chlorella to my birds seed to help the diet because they are such picky eaters. Do you think they are ingesting any or am I wasting money?
Anyone else mix stuff with seed and see results? I would love to hear from you!

What is the reason behind using the coconut oil, out of curiosity?
After a quick search, I can't find any information other than it's 90% saturated fat and contains a small amount of Vitamin E.
It seems like Wheat Germ Oil may would be a better alternative?
Interested in hearing why Coconut Oil...

I use coconut oil because it helps support the immune system, it is an anti bacterial, anti viral and anti fungal oil so it helps prevent bacterial, viral and fungal (including yeast) infections. It provides an immediate source of energy. It is burned for energy rather than being stored as fat. It improves digestion and nutrient absorption. Helps in stress relief. It is highly resistant to spoilage. There is more but you can research it on the internet. I read the book The miracle of coconut oil and have been using coconut oil for several years. The feathers of the birds are starting to look healthier with more shine. Even their eyes seem to look brighter. Not that any of the birds looked unhealthy before. Hope this helps.

I actually answered my own question last night and meant to post what I found, but got distracted!
This is what I was able to locate on an NFSS member's website:
"In the fruit mixture I add dried organic oregano as it has powerful antifungal properties that keeps fruit fresh longer as well as coconut oil. Coconut oil is a fantastic essential oil that is packed with Lauric acid, which promotes healthy metabolism and is known for its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, and MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) which increase available energy and are easily digestible."
Very interesting

I've looked at it a few times when I've been looking at WG and Cod Liver Oil, but I never really knew what it was supposed to be good for, and the amount of fat scared me!
But I guess as this is explained, the fats are not "bad" fats
