I would like to purchase some Roudybush. Do I give it as a treat, a supplement or a regular food. I would like to use it along with their regular seed and fresh food, is that okay? I tried to read up on it, but got lost in the translation. Which kind does everyone else use and how do you furnish it to your birds?

I have used Roudybush for years. I used it on my hookbills, parrotlets, lovebirds. right now I use the nibble size, grind it and add it to the dried egg food, the finches love it. I tried it in a separate bowl without grinding it and they didn't go for it. The nibbles are tiny and easy to grind. I serve it in little egg cups with the eggfood or put a tsp in the middle of the seed dish.

They make a small rod, I don't suggest that size unless you grind it. I know PetSmart carries the rods. I get mine from Red Bird Products or Dr. Foster and Smith when they are running specials.

By the way if you bake birdie bread add some in also.

The size I order is called "nibbles" , "crumbles" is the nest size up
Once you get into the pellet formes like mini and up, these are too large for finches but like Cindy noted they can be crushed.
I mix my nibbles with the seed. I also offer it plain to weaning finches. They seem to handle the crumbs much like dry egg food.

Thanks. I didn't know Petsmart carried it. I must have overlooked it. I have a grinder I use specifically for the birds. Hope they like it.

After my failed experiment with all-pellet diets, I had a lot of Roudybush nibbles in the freezer. I crush them in the blender or coffee grinder, add it to my eggfood, and the birds seem to like it--at least they eat it. I figure it makes my eggfood even more nutritious.

Ah Sally, great minds think a like!!!!!! The best part about that is mine seem to love that more than seed. I offer both pellets and Roudybush/egg food daily. My one little owl male that was having some problems passing seed fragments and went though medications loves it.(he is now bouncing around dancing with a piece of grass for his girl)

I serve this up in an egg cup and the birds go back and forth to it all day. My Owls, Orang cheek, & Gold Breast love it. That one little male owl goes to eats, jumps off the cup, the female jumps on and starts to eat. He gets so impatient that he tugs at her tail feathers, and keep tugging until she moves, then he goes and stuffs his face. I have noticed a big difference in him since I added the RoudyBush to the eggfood. He is more active and chipper, courting his lady, bulding nest. Seed lacks what birds need. My avain vet said that if you are feeding pellets you don't need seed or people food. Everything they need is in there. Veggies and fruits are a good supplement. (that was in regards to my Gray and hookbills, guess the same would apply to finches and canaries)

The one added benefit of adding this to egg food is that if patrents feed this to their yong you know the chicks are getting the added benefit of minerals, vitamins, protiens, a bit more nurishing than just seed. That is a pretty good start to a little life. They make a handfeeding formula. I used to order directly from RoudyBush.

As far as getting the pellets wet and serving it with veggies I don't think it is good to soak the pellets, they may spoil. If you are handfeeding then possibly serving it warmed and in a pinch if you run out of handfeeding formula might be ok. Contact the customer care line or drop them an email.

The do make a Soak and Feed which contains veggies, but I am not sure if it is for finches or just the hookbills.

When raising hookbills this is all I served, good old Roudybush. My lovebird, Louey gets pellets and NutriBerries. Once in a while I give him a little finch seed as a treat, you would think it was Christmas.
