What kind of seeds ??

What kind of seeds do you guys use for soaking ? Do you use the same finch food mix that you give to your birds or is there some special seeds ? I just bought a small bag of seeds that "supposedly" were for soaking but half of the seeds were too big for the finches to bother with. I think I'm going to use Golden German millets and other yellow millet seeds.

There are some special seeds that you can buy, but I just soak the seeds I feed them daily. I use the finch that is sold by Laraine at ladygouldianfinch.com. (except I found it cheaper somewhere else.)

I am soaking the same seed mix I feed the birds as their main seed mix. Just make sure that whatever mix you use, there are no little colored bits in it--those are just manufactured feed bits and will just dissolve and maybe even mold. You want to soak only real, true seeds. There are also some very good soaking/sprouting seed mixes on the market, that are made just for this purpose.

Ok. Thanks for the replies, Sally and defcauly. That's what I thought. I think it's a waste of money to buy special seeds when you can use the same ones you normally use for feeding.
