water cleanser

Post by star » Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:25 pm

Hi everyone,

I am confused on how often to add a product to the water to control bacteria. I have sweet water and am using 3 days per week. Does anyone use any product more often than that for controlling bacteria in the drinking water? I was also wondering which product people liked best.

Hi,

I alternate between Vanodine, GSE, and ACV. Four times a year, we do a week of increased ACV followed by a week of probiotics - but that is more for the birds than it is for the water bottles! :)

I don't put anything in the drinking water, but I change the water daily.

I also have a fountain which I change weekly and put Sparkle in that water every time I change it.

I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

Why the need to control bacteria in the drinking water???

Drinking water should be given fresh everyday.

Is your birds water in an outside aviary or in direct sunlight? If not, there shouldnt be any need for bacteria supressants.

Fresh water should be all your birds need, unless they are lacking certain vitamins or supplements at varying times throughout the year.

Whenever I change the water (about every other day) I put in 1 drop of ACV per 1 oz of filtered.
