Is kitty grass ok for my finches. It is a combo of Oats, Rye, Wheat, & Barley.

Is was reading on finchinfo and it says to give these foods in moderation. So if I stuck one pile of kitty grass in there, they should be ok? And maybe do it once per month?

I haven't used it, but I would think it would be OK. I read that wheat grass is good to feed birds, so I bought a packet of seeds. Started them in little flats, and set them outside to get the sun. They sprouted pretty quickly, a matter of days, but before I knew what was happening, the wild birds ate every bit, plus made a total mess of the trays. So I started more, and gave it to my Star finch babies. Not only did they love it, it was all gone in no time, but they had a roaring good time digging in the dirt (I used an organic mix). I need to get some more seed and try this again. I'm going to see if regular wheat seed from the feed store is the same as the wheat grass seed, as it would be a lot cheaper.

I've tried the kitty grass you can buy already grown in little containers in the petstore. The birds enjoyed it a little too much - it doesn't last long!

I bought wheat seed at the feed store. It was thirty cents a pound. A pound will last a life time! It germinates quickly and is pretty as it is growing. The birds haven't done much with it, however.
