Thanks Bill. There is also a reptile dealer in Oldsmar that I am going to call to see if they sell quanities. If they do at least I can go there in a pinch in between orders instead of spending a lot for so little at one of the chain pet stores. I'll check SE out. Thanks again.

nothing beats breeding your own though. cost me $10 for 1000 worms initially. so far have had over 5000 worms ( and still breeding) from that initial purchase.

Bill...I just ordered 2 containers of 1000 for 6.50 each and with shipping it came to 20 and change. Thanks everyone for there sites to go to. It is always good to have other companies as back up just in case one is out of them.
I plan on letting some cool and freeze some but not after a very balanced meal!

I had them once and my birds didn't like them. And boy, are THEY active!!

These are NOT normal mealworms, it's some other species. And not knowing what they would do to my kitchen for example if some escaped, I wouldn't want them in the house. (The beetles of normal mealworms never fly and pretty much stay where they are.)

All my birds devoured them! Including the Gouldians - yes it is a different species but is a true MINI most mealworms are too big for finches - or I should say they waste more then they eat. Which is a waste to me.
I didn't have any problems with them escaping because they never lasted in the cage but a few minutes. Plus I never used a bowl they could get out of if the birds didn't eat them right away. Either way I didn't have any problems with them and neither did the birds.

Well, maybe I should try them again...
I guess you can never tell which birds like what. That seems to be true about all sorts of food when you read on the forum what member's birds like or don't like. The key is probably to try out as much as you can and then stick with what they like.

I agree and that is why I keep asking about the Bloodworms? I think I just get all yucked about the bloodworms because of the name maybe - I don't know. There seems to be so many protien options out there that this one striked me as odd. But if it works - I'm first in line for them with the waxbills and Strawberries!

Thta's too funny, Donna!
I haven't tried the blood worms yet either. It's yucky enough to feed them frozen to my fish about once a week...

I should try to get the freeze dried ones and mix them in the eggfood, I wonder if they would even notice...

Donna,
I gave my shaftails some last night. Their cage is about 4 ft from the table. I put a nice steak on the grill, set the table for my husband, daughter and myself. Well my daughter went to sit down and looked at her emplty plate which is on the other side of the table from the cage...I think the shaftails were using her plate as target practice! YUK! (these were canned, not alive)
Moving the cage today, they even have a plexiglass guard around the cage that is 18 inches around the bottom. They had to fling it up and over the plastic guard!
Ursula, grind the bloodworms (dried) into the eggfood all my birds liked it even my fussy RCCBs. (love your avatar!)
