I feed pellets instead of seed; I provide Lafeber's and Kaytee pellets daily and occasionally provide Harrison's. I provide seed more as a 'treat' - usually in the form of spray millet hung from the aviary ceiling. Breeding birds however usually get more seed, but they just get a 'premade' mix by Kaytee.

The fresh foods I give are boiled egg crushed shell and all with shredded leafy greens mixed in--romaine lettuce or parsley. Sometimes I mix in ground sunflower seeds. The egg mix is provided several times weekly and more often (daily) when breeding and molting.

The birds have access to cuttle bone 24/7 and almost always have a live nontoxic plant in their aviary which they nibble on.

At this time I just have gouldians & owls so I do not provide any live food.

What birdseeds do you add in your seed mix??

None...I think the premium seed mixes I'm buying are quite complete...plus I add pellets to the mix...

What Vegetables do you give?

Whatever we're eating that's safe...broccoli, carrots, zucchini, leaf lettuce, spinach...and fruits and pastas...odd bit of dry bread to pick at...

How often do you give egg food?

Never have.

What live foods do you give?

I offer mealworms occaisionally...but so far all the finches are scared of them...
A bird in the hand...requires some serious washing up...
