Hi all.I'm from Türkiye.I have 1 pair Gouldian. They are in the same cage but seperated (to gain form).Male is getting in the molt. That's why, I thought that they needed iodine,so lefting them hungry,I gave them eggfood. But it doesn't seem they like it,they haven't eaten. Moreover, they have cuttle bone in their cage, the situation is same, they don't touch. What can I do for this situation? Is there something else I can do for my male bird to gain his feathers? Thanks :)

Sorry for poor English.

Hello and welcome, Evren! Your English is better than my turkish! =D>

You could sprinkle a few seeds (or whatever they love - like millet spray) on top of the eggfood to entice them to eat it. Other wise just keep offering a little of it to them everyday and they may come around to trying it. Moulting is very natural and they go through it every year.

We would love to see some pictures of your birds.

I give them a mix of
hard boiled egg + vegetables (carrot, yam, lettuce, chard) + seeds + egg shell.
The seeds seem to have helped get some of my stubborn ones to eat from the dish, and sooner or later they will try the egg and veggies.

They look wonderful! Don't forget to sprinkle a little seed or put a piece of millet spray on top of the eggfood and they'll get into it sooner rather than later.

Ok,I will do it.I hope it works.Meanwhile i give them hipraminchok regularly as vitamin(3 times a week),levamizole for endoparasite(2 times a month). Are they appropriate? Additionally they have grit, cuttle bone. (As a birdfood=mix seeds, canary food, niger and Witte Molen's mix food which include niger) Should I add something to get them breeding condition?

Thank you very much for your interest. :)

Nice looking gouldians :D Like Liz, I too will put a small piece of millet spray on top of the eggfood to coax them to the plare.

Ever since I started adding hulled millet to my eggfood, everyone flocks to it immediately after I remove my fingers. Feels so good to see that they are enjoying my cooking.

Beautiful birds you have. =D>

I didn't really get mine to eat it until they were either breeding or molting. But now that they have had it they love it.

Sorry we missed the questions in your second post [-X

Basically, if your male is molting, you are going to have to wait to breed. If you can, in the mean time try and seperate your males and females, if all goes well, the female will also go into her yearly molt, and they should be ready for breeding at the same time.

Vitamins once a week or 2 times at most should be enough. I don't know what levamizole for endoparasite is, but if it is a medicine, I don't think you should give it that often. Is there something specific you are trying to eliminate/get rid of? The food you are giving them seems fine and I don't think you need to provide something to entice them into breeding - when they are ready, they are ready. You can't rush them to breed. Hope that helps answer some more of your questions.

www.fairestfinches.com always adds some garlic powder to their eggfood. When I had Gouldians, this did make them eat the eggfood better.

Hi all again.I have a question again  I planned that ı could pair and breed them at the end of April. But my male gouldian is getting in molt. When the molt is over (if female won't get into molt) can I breed them or should ı wait? If I have to wait, how long should I wait? Thnaks again and again :)

Regards from Türkiye...
