Couscous - a Boat Load of it!

Post by L in Ontario » Fri Apr 16, 2010 5:09 pm

WOW - I only asked for a couple of tablespoons and I got a "boat load" of couscous in the mail today! Okay a brand new unopened bag of it - that just about amounts to a 'boat load'!!

Thank you SO much Janine!! My fids love you for the next 5 years! I'm sure it will last that long. =D>

What are you doing with the couscous?

Just curious, cause I have a lot. I love it, but my boys (children boys) :) won't touch it.

for those of us who dont use it and maybe some who dont know what it is.
why doesnt someone who feeds it to their birds, take a picture of it and do a write up of what it is and why they feed it to the birds. what benefits does it have.
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Here is the link to how I use it MickP http://www.finchforum.com/download/file ... &mode=view with pics.

I started using it to entice those birds that didn't seem to want to eat their veggies. Since I started, even the gouldians are eating all of their veggies...I imagine it is because it loks a lot like there are seeds in there. As to nutitional aspects..sorry.. I realy For us humans however, it is a good source of protein, fibre and iron.

Lately I have even been adding a little bit of bok choy.

This morning was hilarious, last night I was out late (staff party) so the fids got their breakfast a half hour late. You should have seen them when I got close to the aviary and cages with their dishes everone headed on over to the door, as if to say (she's here, she's here) =D> Of course as soon as I open the door everyone heads to the opposite end until my hands have been removed. :(

They are scarfing it down with the eggfood! I mixed it into the eggfood as I don't give them leafy veggies - hardly ever. Mine get cucumbers which they all love.

I made some this morning with broccoli and a side of mashed eggs...they love it. Most of them eat it. One pair of the GB (with young), the RCCBs and Green singers haven't touched it yet. The owls and zebras as well as the shaftails with the 5 young are int almost right away...all you see are tails in the air!!!!
