Well... Nancy from Aspen Aviaries has been telling me that only Gouldians and Canaries carry the mite eggs all the time, and that when they are stressed the eggs hatch, causing air sac mites. She told me that it is fine to put my Gouldian with scalex and air sac mites back in the aviary. Is this true? I haven't done it yet....

If you spread the wing out and look at the individual feathers, do they look tattered?

Sorry. Do they look ragged, not smooth or have holes in them?

Yes it looks ragged, def. not smooth or the right color. It looks like a skin color and prickly. I don't know about holes though??

Sounds like some type of mite or other pest. Maybe lice? I definitly would not put her back in with the other birds yet. Maybe someone else on the forum may have more insight than me?

A photo of the damaged feathers would be a big help.
