A couple of months ago I rescued 2 canaries. I took them to the vet, and the the vet cleared the health on them. Last Saturday, I noticed bloody stools in the cage and took them to the vet again. The abdomen was swollen on one, and I was given an antibiotic and anitinflamatory--without a stool sample, they couldn't test for parasites.
Yesterday the canary, Tika, laid an egg in one of the food bowls. Is bleeding stools part of this? I'm so confused, I've never had any of my birds nest/lay before, and never had canaries.
I put in a larger food bowl in the cage with timothy hay. The egg broke, so I threw that away. Will she continue to lay? How concerned do need to be about her?
I don't really want more canaries, but if Tika is laying eggs in her food bowl, I guess she will just continue to lay eggs anyway?
rescued canaries....bloody stools/preggers?
