Open mouths

Post by Geordie » Mon Oct 29, 2007 12:20 am

Finally I got 2 new Javas today, they seem very healthy only 2 months old. One is a silverback the other is a fawn. They feed themselves and have flown around a bit after taking a short time to settle. Anyway, I have noticed that the silverback keeps opening its mouth wide, like a yawn. I can't see anything wrong with the inside of its mouth and the beak is in good condition. My other silverback has never did this kind of thing.
Should I be worried?

Cheers

When I first brought my 2 zebra finches home, friday, they did this. After a few hours in thier new cage, they stopped. I have not seen them do it since. Could it be a stress behaviour?

I'm pretty sure it's from strss. After trying to catch my spice after she got out, after a while of chaseing she does this. Now I just don't try becasue of stress and all of my birds go back into the cage them selves.

So most likely it's just stress.

The silverback has stopped now so I think you guys are right, it was probably the train ride that freaked them out.

Man, when I have to catch my birds for something, I feel absolutely horrible.... they start breathing really fast and holding their beaks open. I just wish they knew that I was going to hurt them.
