Re: Canary foot stuck in cage!
Her foot is turning black now so it is definitely not going to make it. I think I'm going to have to amputate it. I was thinking of just letting it die completely and then just snip it off with some claw clippers, should come off cleanly. I have styptic powder and antibiotic creams but no antibiotics for her to drink. I decided to just order air sac mite treatments, wormers, and nv powder. The only think that worries me is that somehow if I leave the leg on too long she could get blood poisoning, hopefully not, there doesn't appear to be any blood flow whatsoever. On the good side she appears to not be affected at all. It's a little trickier for her to hop on a wire floor on one leg so I've just placed her in a larger cage with lots of perches so she can just fly from food to drinker to treat cup and so on. Not really slowing her down much.

I have a parrot finch that got his foot hurt and it fell off you can't even tell the way he gets around like it never happened
