Jewel & I Survived The Beak Trim...

Post by FeatherHarp » Sun Feb 03, 2008 5:53 pm

I got Jewel's beak trimmed and am sharing a pic of the "After" trimming...and also reposting the pic of the "Before". It went really well....she held very still while she was nestled in my Hubby's hands. I also got her nails trimmed AND her two plastic leg bands off too! So all in all I think I did good for my first time!! No legs were cut off and no blood was shed. \:D/

It was hard to catch her.....I tried for a few seconds...Hubby tried too...his hands are slower than mine...LOL! So I got out the finch net and was able to scoop her up.

I am glad that is over and that I had help. I don't know how those of you who do the trimming all by yourself can do that....You have my utmost respect! :D

Well done! I must admit this is one of the things I find scary about owning finches, I will have to get my head around it before I get any!

Congratulations on a job well done! I'm sure Jewel will be much happier now.

I planted some bird seed. A bird came up. Now I don't know what to feed it.

That is awsome!! I know she is much happier now. Just watch a week or so and see if she takes to getting the rest down to normal. Nothing to worry about. 8)

I just wanted to say again what a great job you did. Maybe it was looking at the pic again but it really does look great. Has she taken to any cuttlebone yet?

why do some finches beak grow like this while others don't?

My male's beak is fine for a while and then just over a period of about 2 or 3 days it grows over night. Very frustrating!
