Got a call his morning...And sadly, the society hen did not make the night

I'm off now to pick up those 2 eggs now. My friend want me to have them, as they might still have a chance of hatching.

What do you think? They haven't been sat on for 3 full days. (exept at night) Could they still hatch?

I just put the 2 eggs into my zebra finch's nest. She and her mate are taking turns sitting...

I don't know where you are located (if you put it in your profile - I'll never ask you again) so I don't know what the weather/humidity is like in your local area. Egg viability may depend greatly on those conditions.

Okay, there~ The weather hasn't been so good lately.

And the air spaces in the eggs are rather big. Does that mean they're infertile? They were only laid 4-5 days ago and were incubated for about 1 1/2 days before the hen got sick.

My Zebra pair still sitting~ Their own eggs are actually infertile so I'm hoping the two "unknown" eggs hatch..

But no one answered my question yet. Do you think they still have a chance of hatching after not being incubated for three days?

There is alway a chance they hatch, but I wouldnt get my hopes up to high. Let the zebras sit on them for 4-5 days more and then candle them to se if they are developing or not.

Bad news, I don't know why, but the male zebra suddenly started plucking at the female, so I had to take him out of the cage.

And now the female isn't sitting anymore.. I'm going to add my only society finch in with her to see if he can get her back in the mood. He's a pretty reliable foster.

Just got a closer look at the eggs, and the air in them fills up just over 1/3 of the space...

Gray area would be the air space.

That means that they're 100% infertile and have no chance have hatching, right? Damn...
