Hmm - I've seen those white bars on the other birds. She did seem young. I've been looking at finch feet, and her feet and legs were quite smooth, pink and tiny. She seemed confident enough to be on her own. She was also energetic, and curious.

I wonder if she's the one who has been dumping so much nyger on the ground!

Yeah, the claws seemed short and un-worn as well. I get a lot of goldfinches around my house because I live right next to a huge field.

Just yesterday, I was watching tv when I heard a huge thump. I immeadiatly knew a bird had flown into the window. Ran outside to find a little juvenile goldfinch fluttering on the ground. Tried to save him but he died within seconds. He was bleeding from his head and beak...I think he broke his neck or something... (He must of hit the window a lot harder then your bird ._. )

Poor little guy D: Just a baby too...
