broken wing
yesterday 4 of my zebra finch chicks fledged they all seemed fine however today one of them has its wing out and has its body very close to the floor and it does not look like it can fly is there any way i can help it also it is no where near weened so it must live in the aviary with the rest

Can you post a picture of the fledgling? I would take it out to check its wing and make sure nothing else is injured. If the wing is damaged, you can make a splint with a popsicle stick and paper medical tape. You can also make a little flat type of nesting area on the ground so the chick will be comfortable and the parents can come down to feed the baby. It may just have a muscle injury or is not strong enough to get up any higher yet. Sometimes, they fledge a little too early and are not ready to fly. Keep an eye on the baby and see if putting some nesting material on the ground, in a corner, near the other nest helps. Good Luck.
