What are the MUST HAVES in your bird emergency station??
Just wondering what different items ya all consider important to have in the emergency bag?

Oh good idea. Never thought of that...just a thought but how about some antibiotics(which i would assume you would want to dispose of occassionally), that funky glue stuff that stops bleeding for when you clip toe nails and beaks, and of course the occassional emergency treat.
Good question. Just for future reference I would be curious to know what I should have on hand as well. I'm sure there would def be a longer list than what I supplied heheh.

Here is basically what I have in my Emergency Kit:
* Rubbing alcohol for sterilizing.
* Kwik-Stop for broken blood feathers, bleeding beaks/nails and minor skin cuts.
* Cornstarch to stop other bleeding.
* A topical antibiotic cream for wounds.
* Hydrogen peroxide to cleanse wounds.
* Pliers to remove broken blood feathers,
* Wire cutters for cage/toy injuries.
* Scissors and nail clippers.
* Gauze and bandages for wounds.
* Surgical tape for binding broken wings/legs
* Cotton swabs for use on small wounds.
* Magnifying glass to inspect injuries.
* Towels and washcloth for holding birds.
I am sure there are other things that could be added too and I am curious as to what others have as well.

Thanks Lyderbug...I have found websites that list all kinds of things and I just picked and chose what I thought would work for my birdies. Some items were more appropraite for larger parrots.
This link has some good general information for First Aid Kits for birds.

I just realized I need to add some emergency items for me....like some chocolate bars.

I buy my probiotic from a local lady in my bird club, but most of the big names like Morning Bird, Bird Care, etc., produce a probiotic. It is used to restore a normal gut, I think sort of like how we eat yogurt after taking antibiotics to put normal bacteria back in the gut. This lady uses it every day, but I just use it as a part of my weekly cycle of things I add to the water--right now, I am doing it once a week.
