problems balancing on perch

problems balancing on perch
i have a female zebra finch 11 months old who has a weight problem and is starting to find i hard to balance on the prech from landing or fluffing up i have no idea if its a problem caused by her weight issue or whats causing this any advice?

her droppings are normal its not that shes fluffed up its just she fluf's up alot ( if that makes sense lol) and its when she fluffs herself up she falls or when she flies onto the other perch she looses her balance do you think she just needs thicker perches and not of same size?? thank you for the help

Is your bird new to the cage? Was she able to balance before and suddenly cannot do it anymore? are there other bird's harassing her, not allowing her to land?

It's always a good idea to have perches of different diameters, as this helps to exercise the muscles in their feet. Also, make sure they have some natural-type perches and not just dowel perches.davidj wrote: do you think she just needs thicker perches and not of same size?? thank you for the help

Would you say she goes to land then kind of fluffs up sort of like straightening her feathers to straighten them? I have seen parrots do this, the play, fly, land, sort of shake and fluff out then the feathers relax and they go about their business.
