NV powder dosing recommendations for waxbills

Post by tinysparrow » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:43 am

i have a red eared waxbill female who is under the weather. i found her all fluffed up last night on the bottom of the cage. i transferred her to a hospital cage last night and she looks a lot better this morning :) i hope that she will be back to normal in a few days.

i bought some NV powder a while back for times like these as i read that it has an electrolyte component. is this safe to give to her? will it help?

also, what dose is recommended for her? the label only has dosing amounts for:
-budgies, parrots (1g, 1/4 tsp mixed into 100 ml of drinking water)
-canaries and finches (1 g, 1/4 tsp mixed into 200 ml of drinking water).

she is so small i just want to be careful that i don't overdose her.

thanks!

thanks for the help!

she is doing well and back in the community cage with the other waxbills  my guess is that she was trying to lay an egg as i found one at the bottom of the hospital cage in the morning after she had spent the night in there. i am glad that she is better as she is one of my favourites.
