Post by northernflirt » Wed Feb 27, 2008 7:23 pm

Hi...

I have a female Gould with puffy feathers and red spotty skin, What could it be and is it deadly? I'm thinking mites...any other possibilities?

Thanks.......Sandy

I don't know what she has and I don't understand "red spotty skin" - what area of her body is "red spotty"?

If she is fluffed, the first thing you need to do is get her into a hospital cage isolated from any other birds and put a heat lamp on for her; making sure she can either perch close to the heat lamp or move away as she needs. And make sure there is water and seed in there for her along with perhaps a millet spray. You can also cover the hospital cage with a towel to help keep the warmth in.

Keep us posted.
Liz

It's kind of a rash which has all of her skin red.

But she is eating.
