I just need to know if we ever take in a different kind of bird.

This is only my humble opinion...

SCATT is "weaker" strength than "prescription" mixed drugs you can get from a qualified Avian vet. If you don't have access to an avian vet, then Scatt is fine, because you can get it off of the internet easily. However, my first choice is always going to be the Ivermectin mix that my Avian vet sells me.

That said, I'm also of the opinion that you should not use medications unless absolutely necessary. For me, "absolutely necessary" would be when any birds that are prone to Air Sac mite infection are in your aviary. So if your keeping an Gouldians in your aviary, you'll probably want to treat all your finches with it. If you are not keeping any species that are prone to Air Sac mites, then I wouldn't worry about it unless you have a problem with them.
