Yolk on food bowl ?

Post by Cath1068 » Wed Jan 11, 2012 9:53 am

I found this on my egg food bowl this morning. The bowl was clean last night when I turned off my bird lights. I cant find an egg anywhere or even a broken peice. The hen herself seems totally normal. She is eating, drinking and happily hopping around. Shortly after lights on she pooped clear liquid twice and now her poops look normal. What do you suppose this is on the food bowl ?

Oh it also been about a week since I saw this pair mate behind the bushes.....LOL

It almost looks as though she dropped her egg from a perch and it broke. :( Most times when this happens they will eat the shell.

I agree with Janine, she just did not get to the nest in time!

Thanks for such quick reply. I also forgot to mention that this yellow yolky stuff is also on the perch right above that side of the bowl I found it on.

sounds like she might have either been perched or flying when she dropped the egg, it hit the perch and broke and dripped into the dish.

She does show an extra interest in her nest box today. They have also decided to build a nest ON TOP of the box behind the silk pothos plant. Silly little birds.....LOL I do hope I get some eggs and babies. I just ordered my large flight cage today so when it gets here they may have to wait to join it. I will just keep them alone in the cage I have now and just move the others over.... :D

K I just had a look in the cage and she has laid an egg on top of the nest box. Its tiny and perfect. I slid a piece of cardboard up against the cage side so the eggs or babies cant fall thru the bars. Interesting that they decided to nest on top of the box......LOL. It is pretty secluded up there.

Does happy dance...... [-o< =D>
