I would not wet the bird, in case it is sick. Sometimes cysts or swelling may be a sign of a vitamin deficiency and finch is getting sick. Keep it warm and you can put warm compresses on the spot as many times a day as the finch can tolerate without becoming too stressed by the handling. Good Luck.
