Re: What Happened?
Theres not wire from the fake plants that were in the cage. Only sharp edges of the plant. could have been like a paper cut. I have taken the plant out this morning. Im getting worried that it wont heal properly now. I dont have anything on hand other than vasiline. I have no neosporen or any of that stuff...

Re: What Happened?
Hmm.. maybe. You can clean it with a q-tip and water, a little vaseline won't hurt, my uncle did this with a bird with bad feet, he is now fine!

Well I always have salt! lol. I also have listerine so I could put some of that on a q'tip. Its going to be a challanged to catch him. The female is on the eggs right now, and I dont want to scare her off.kenny66 wrote:diluted listerene mouth wash is a emergency wash as is salt and water.

Re: What Happened?
Gouldians tolerate the occassional interruption and drama quite well. As long as it is not too prolonged. I forgot the size of your cage but if it is a big one, you can put a smaller one in it and put some seed or something he really likes on the bottom.Put a stick holding the door up with a string on it and when he goes inside pull the string-hopefully he will be trapped in the small cagePrettyBird wrote:Well I always have salt! lol. Re: What Happened?
Looks to me from the pictures, that he got skinned and pulled the skin up from the beak towards the neck. Could he have done it putting his head into something, like between the wires of the cage or a food or water container? It may not be healing because he keeps doing the same motion over and over.
Good luck and be sure to keep it clean

Re: What Happened?
Dee, I just saw the pictures. Poor guy. My female had a sore in the same spot but her mate did it. I removed her to a different cage, cleaned the site up and used neosporin. Within a few day the sore ws healed. Hope your guy heals quickly.

Re: What Happened?
Thanks everyone.
I think I know what it could be. At night when its time for bed he madly flies around the cage. I heard alot of flying and crashing. Went to go see, and he was trying to sleep at the very top of the cage on the ceiling part (where I used to have that fake plant) He really like to hide in the plant and sleep in it at night. And now that its gone he was crashing into the cage walls. Ive had a nightlight on, Ive turned a lamp on the room. He still does it. He goes all crazy right before bed. I dont know what to do.

Give them a night light set on a timer to go on just before the big lights go out. Birds need time to find their roosts and they will get spooked and disoriented if it gets dark suddenly.
Two gouldians, two gold breast waxbills, two societies, four zebras, two canaries, one hamster, one freshwater fish tank, one salt water fish tank.

I caught him today, cleaned the dried blood. Its actually deeper than I thought, and the cut goes into a Y shape. I put some ointment on it, hopefully it will heal!
