Shivering could be calcium depletion which can cause muscle tremors. Liquid calcium with Vit. D3 dripped on the beak is the best thing to try at first...along with heat and increased humidity.
I hope you have calcium plus prodouct on hand.
Even when birds have plenty of calcium avaible supplkid to them through diet, they cannot utitlise the calcium unless they have sunshine or vitamin D3.

She has since been seoerated to her own cage. Kelp is given every day... lights are up to 14 hours a day and her feathers are responding beautifully. I know these pics are small but maybe you can see the feather loss around the neck. These birds are not plucked.

This yellow hen to the bottom left is suffering some stress feather loss also. She is responding with the same treatment however this hen has not been removed to her own cage. She is still house with the male. I will remove her once I remember to bring another cage home from the store...I have no more spares at home...

My canary is not looking good this morning. She seems to bi shivering, so i gave her a heat source. Should i isolate her and try giving her iodine or medication?

Hi
It just happened to me recently with a female canary that I adopted from a person who had cancer and could not take care of her birds.

She has same problem as yours. I end up put her in hospital cage – with heat lamp – heat pad. Calcium plus in water. She stayed for few days and passed – On the same day she passed I found a soft egg near by – I guess it is egg Binding issue.
Dean will not mind if you give him a call or email him. From his experience I am sure he can help just like other finch/canay members in this Finch room.

Hope yours will get better

Thank you, and I hope my female will not pass on! She seemed better today - not shivring anymore. Where is Dean located? Does he ship to Canada if i need D3 and other things?

Thanks, Candace! Im afraid I dont have calcium plus on hand - any recommendations for quick shipping to Canada? Ill order today, hopefully in time! She wasnt shivering today, but i dont want to take risks. Its strange, though, that out of the four birds she is the only one exhibiting feather loss in the cage. Im keeping an eye on the male too. BTW, in another thread you had mentioned a site for herb salad - is that you site? I ordered some a week ago but havent got it yet.
Thanks again

If you put your location in your profile, we wouldn't need to ask you where you are located (within Canada). It might be possible for me to bring you some kelp powder, avian iodine, Herb Salad or Calcium Plus (which contains D3) as I have all of these on hand ... but I have no idea if you are next door to me or 5,000 kms away. :(

I hope you get the meds you already ordered, today. Good luck. [-o<

All of the above items can be ordered from various online websites including - http://www.LadyGouldian.com among others.

Rour - I see now you are in Edmonton - yes that is quite a distance from me, too bad. But I would think there are good bird supply stores in Edmonton or Calgary that carry Morning Bird products...?

Morning Bird is the manufacturing company for avian iodine and Calcium Plus that you need.

I would call them first to see if they have a certain product.

I was helping someone in your area and wrote an email to the gentleman in Ontario (E &R Exotic) and he was very prompt in getting back to me.

Sorry I realized I hadn't answered your question about the hen! Her feathers have all grown back and she looks better. I have a faint suspicion that the male is attacking her or at least being aggressive, although I've never caught him doing anything, when she is near and they are on the same perch, he will open his beak in warning. They are in a large flight with two GBWBs. She likes sitting in an open nest I have in the cage - I wonder if that makes her feel secure from him. Otherwise, she looks good!
