Picture Bald Scratching Society

Post by LisaB53 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 8:25 am

Finally I managed to get my camera back and tried to shot some pictures of the problem finch.

He is back in the double cage with his three cage mates. I had seperated him because I thought it could be picking/plucking but it continue to get worse and he ended up with a large scratch across his head. So instead of keeping him seperate and stressed I put him back with his pals.

I've been catching him to apply cream to his head for a week and a half now and I can see no sign of mites on the skin. However he is constantly scratching him self on the head and aroung his neck and shoulder area. He appears to be eating okay and I hear him chirp but haven't heard him sing for a little while now. I've been giving him eggfood almost daily now but while the head doesn't seem to be getting any worse nothing seems to be getting better and the constant scratching concerns me.

As I said since I hadn't seen any sign of mites I had put him back with his buddies and they all appear to still be health, no balding or scratching.

Does anyone have an idea what to try next.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I can't offer any insight into why his head is scratched, but I hope he gets better :)
I'm sure he's happier being back with his buddies at least
