gouldian looks has conjunctivitis

hi i have a gould roughly 7 weeks since fleged it has one eye closed over and weeping like conjunctivitis .
it was in a aviary with another protective pair.
any ideas
i have washed down with warm water and given spark eletrolyte

Hi Brad,

How long has the bird displayed the symptoms? Could it be possible that it was pecked in the eye by another bird - especially if you were housing it with another protective pair as you mentioned?

You mentioned cleaning the eye - which is good, as they sometimes get things in their eyes just like we do.

hi tammy he has been like it for 3 days i also think it is from being pecked
it is also a bit swollen.
i will keep cleaning it and see if i can get some form of treatment from
pet shop.

Brad,

Try use some kind of antibiotic oinment for birds, my young gould got eye infection when I had lots of backyard dust around the cage, and the oinment really worked.
