Possible sinus infection?
I have two gouldians that are relatively new. I haven't taken them out of quarantine yet but have had them for about 2 months. One of them is just sneezing but the other is sneezing appears to have some kind of discharge because the feathers around his nose are wet, is puffed and is wiping his beak against the perch a lot. Anyone know what could be going on with him? Could it be a sinus infection? Im guessing not from another post i saw about a sinus infection but what else could it be? A Cold? ASM? What do you use to treat something like this?
Owls, Goulds, European Goldfinch, Red Belly Siskins and Zebs... For now...
Re: Possible sinus infection?
I would guess Air Sack mites. Its common in gouldians and canarys. If you can pick the one with the discharge up and hold him up to your ear and listen for a clicking noise. One treatment for air sack mites is scatt and you can order it off the internet. I hope he gets better.

Re: Possible sinus infection?
Sounds just like an upper respiratory infection to me. ASM isn't all that common and most cases are purely anecdotal.
If you have electrolytes and/or probiotics I would start with that and separate it from the other bird if the other appears to be healthy. Offer heat and millet and the electrolytes for 2-3 days, the probiotics for about 10.
If you see no improvement then it's time to consider something else.
