so sorry for your loss. i know how it feels to lose a little one that you have hand fed. you did everything you could for him and like deborah said, gave him a loving and caring home.

I am so sorry you lost this little one. I didn't want to discourage you earlier, but I had one that looked exactly like this one--underdeveloped, odd shape to head. It ate with gusto, was very active, begged for food, but one day it didn't want to eat, and it did not last too long after that. I didn't feel that it had a yeast infection, which will do in some youngsters, I felt it was not right from the beginning. As the others have said, at least the little one had loving care for its short time on earth.

Thanks guys. I miss the little guy but I feel like he's probably happier now. I gave it my best shot but at least he is at peace. Fly free little guy. :(

Sometimes you have to do whats best for the bird, even if you know in your heart its hard. I had my Zebbie just put down. He'd been sick for the whole 6-8 months I had him (he was given to me). At the end he was sleeping on the floor, fluffed up in a ball all the time. Sometimes, even tho we care, nature is not fair. Whatever happens, know you've done the best you can :)

It still bothers me so I continued to think about what may have went wrong. I was searching the internet and found out the formula I used was one that was recalled. I fed my poor babies food that had a high amount of vitamin D. :( Now I feel worse knowing I gave my chicks food that may have caused their deaths.
