Wing Problem! Help!

Post by Acelin_Wolf » Sat Jul 20, 2013 12:01 pm

So, I managed to scrape up the money to bring home my new gouldians today! BUT one of them is not nearly as active. I listened to her, no clicking sounds or anything.

But this is what her wing looks like. She was housed with about 20 other birds for sale. Half of them zebras.

Mites? Or feather plucking?

I had mite spray so I sprayed her down just in case but...here's a pic.

I can't see very well, but it looks like molting. Molting is stressful on gouldians, so make sure they have eggfood (homemade) to get them the calcium and protein they need to make new feathers. After the molt, they'll be looking really pretty.

Ok, I read about the molting but I just didn't know if this was it. XD Ok, good thing I have dried eggfood and fresh eggs to give her! I also sprayed them both with mites spray just in case.

Not a bad idea to spray them just in case, looks like it could be any of the suggestions. Hard boiled eggs will help a lot :)
congratulations on your new gouldians and best of luck
