Question about my one baby finch

Post by cottagecatt » Sun Feb 16, 2014 8:13 pm

I am noticing with only one... he looks like he bird seed on his neck . I know it is not but I am guessing its just because he hasn't all his feathers as an adult.

I'm pretty sure what your seeing is the seed in it's crop. :)

Don't feel stupid, it's new and weird and we've all been there. :D

I always say one day we don't know something and the next day we learn it. We all learn about seed in the crop...and we all learned it on a different day. That is all! It is weird looking, for sure! It scared me the first time I saw it. I had no idea what I was seeing at first.

I got a fright with my first chicks. The seed in the crop looked like it was growths or something really 'unhealthy'. Luckily my mom was on hand and after laughing at the look of devastation on my face over my 'sick chick', she assured me it's normal :D

All part of the learning process!
