Wanting to know if I should add any type of vitamins to their food or water?
I feed them seed, egg food, hard boiled eggs, sprouts, lettuce, oyster shells, millet and more...
Thank you

Re: Vitamins for Zebras
Personally, I don't like to add vitamins to the water, I feel it forces them to take in the vitamins whether they need them or not, as they have to drink. And I worry that the water doesn't stay as fresh as when it is just plain water.
It sounds like you are giving a very comprehensive diet, they will get many vitamins from the veggies and eggfood, etc. I do currently add some vitamins to my eggfood when I make it up. Several friends do this, and their birds look great.

Yes, they are powdered vitamins. I was using Prime, because that is what I had on hand, but my friends use Vionate, so that is what I will order. They both use their own version of Roy Beckham's egg food recipe.

I don't like to add vitamins to their water either. I find it makes the water go stale, or have a film on it so you have to be constantly changing the water and scrubbing out the dish. When I do feed vitamins I mix it with hard boiled egg.

Re: Vitamins for Zebras
I use Avitech Vitamins in the water and it does not leave a film and I take the water bowls out of the cage at night and put them in the dishwasher and then morning when their lights come on ( They are on a timer) I put the vitamin water mixture in my 6 lady gouldian's cage and I do this every day. I am pretty sure Avitech vitamin and mineral supplement is what reversed my one gouldian's head twirl. As long as you change out the water every day I do not see a problem. All 6 of mine just molted out and the colors on them are stunning. I swear by Avitech products from past experience and now.
