AIR SAC MITES, Anybody in Toronto with Scatt or Ivectimin

Hey,

I am 100% sure my canary has air sac mites and I can't seem to find over the counter medicine here in Canada. A vet costs $100 just to see him and I can't afford that so I ordered the Scatt medicine from the US but it will take some time to come. I was just wondering if any of you who had the same problem with your bird had some medicine you could share with me. Anyone in the Toronto area. My bird is very sick and barely sleeps at night because of the sneezing and wheezing.

I do have an unopened bottle of S76. But I'm in Florida, so I imagine your order would arrive before anything I could mail you.

Have you tried calling around to some pet shops in your area? Particularly any that sell birds. They tend to have these types of products on-hand (or they may be able to get them quickly).

Sounds a member has the S76, good ! If your canary has had the ASM for a while, the treatment can kill because the mites die at once and get stuck in the airway. So, treat once, wait and treat again with a few days in between, so the ones that die can clear the airway before too many die. Sometimes, it's too late, but I hope you caught this in time to treat and have her recover. Let us know how she responds.
