Head not looking too good

I know he does have pins feathers, he is molting in the head a little obviously, but it is looking more shabby, dry and faded. Is this because of his molt? Or.... Is is something else? I figure he is about 2 years old, maybe a bit more. Does this happen as they age?

It looks like he is just molting. I wouldn't be too worried just make sure he is getting lots of protein (egg food) for feather growth. If he still has the patches once all of his pin feathers have grown out and his molt is complete, then you will have a better idea if it's an actual problem that may need treatment.

Hoping he finishes his molt soon, with a full bright head of feathers!

Thank you. I've been a bit worried. I have had him for about 6 months and he has always been a bit washed out, but some have said he may be stuck in molt, and maybe lacking something from where I obtained him. So I have been keeping an eye and hoping that it was just a normal molt and he will color up. I was also wondering after reading if it " could" be an iodine defciency? How would I know this and if so, could I obtain this at local pet store or something of equal value?

If you suspect an iodine deficiency you could simply add hard boiled eggs to their diet.
Hard boiled eggs offer iodine, calcium (the shells), vitamin D3, Manganese, iron, Selenium, Chlorine, Phosphorus, sodium, Choline,Vitamin B12, Folic acid, Biotin, Pantothenic acid, Pyridoxine (B6), Riboflavin (B2), Thiamin, Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Protein
