Goulds have a complete molt once a year, every feather. They molt in a way that they would not be left unable to fly or vulnerable to predators and/or the elements.

I hope that the following molts won't be as nerve wracking as this baby molt that Sharra went through. In future I would be very reluctant to bring home baby Goulds. At the time, I had no idea that it could be so hard on them.
