D: not doing well

Post by Tolly_Paikea » Mon Nov 24, 2014 7:32 pm

one of my new boys is not doing well.... he was totally fine until this morning, when I noticed him holding his wings funny. Now he's not doing much of anything, I picked him up and put him in the hospital cage. He barely even opened his eyes.... he's just sitting in a little fluffed ball holding his wings funny....

Yesterday he was behaving totally normal, I wonder if maybe he hurt himself in the night.... I heard some more fluttering then normal I think....

I'm so scared... I like this little guy.... he's so pretty! ........

I'm assuming you have heat on him, since you said you put him in the hospital cage. That is about all you can do for the moment, just keep an eye on him. I'd put some spray millet in there, as that is something that is tempting to eat. Hope he is feeling better tomorrow.

Hi.
I would keep him warm and comfortable.
How long have you had him? You mentioned him being one of your new birds. Did you get him from a breeder, a pet shop? Has he been isolated from your other birds? Are your other new birds acting fine?

I'm asking, because I hope he didn't come to you sick with something, that might be passed on to the others.

I hope he feels better soon.

So sorry you lost him. Finches often hide illness so well that we don't know anything is wrong until it is too late.
