Holy Crow, that is a huge difference. What's the approximate time frame, between the before and after picts?

By the way, what on earth did such a job on the poor little thing?

We got her from our pet store where she was being picked on. That was Jan 12, and we took the before pics the next day after she'd perked up a bit and I thought she had a chance. My daughter took the after pics yesterday, so about two months. We'd been following the advice given us on the forum by concerned folks, and it sure made a difference! She's been eating hard boiled egg like crazy along with her seed, can't believe how much one tiny bird can put away.:). Now that she's better can we continue to give her the egg as a treat? Is there any downside to giving it to a healthy girl? Thanks everyone, due to such great advice she's now healthy and happy!:)

Little Leslie looks so good!

You can definitely continue giving her the eggs.
I offer them to my guys year-round. They love them!
Eggs are a bit of a superfood. They're packed with so many great nutrients, so as far as I'm concerned, my guys can eat as much as they'd like!

Ideally, seeds should only comprise a small portion of their diet. (The percentage varies according to who you ask, though I think the average recommendation is around 30%).
I have a printable list of bird-friendly foods that you might try:

I can't get over how they literally plucked every area of her body - her face, her back, her chest. Poor thing. I'm so happy she's doing well!

Wow she looks like a brand new finch!! And her turnaround is amazing considering it took just two months!
I had seen the "before" pics and it was heartbreaking to see such a sweet little bird in that condition, but I was very hopeful she would make a full recovery since you rescued her from such deplorable living conditions =D>
Thanks for sharing the recent pic of her, she is adorable and looks happy and so healthy!
It goes without saying but you did a wonderful thing :D

Thanks for all your kind replies. Leslie had a good few months with us, perky and telling the other birds off. Then recently we found her passed away when we got up in the morning. I suspect she might have been older than we thought. She was very loved in her short time with us.
We've now rescued a new zebra finch (this guy was unable to make it to a perch in the cage in the pet store, his wing was cockeyed). Pet store knows us now and offered it to my daughter since he couldn't be sold in this condition. We've had him a week and his wing is already okay again. Lesley was such a big personality we plan to honor her memory by giving a home to more finches, we're hooked now. Bought a HUGE flight cage and intend to get our new fella some friends.:)

So sorry you lost Leslie, but what a wonderful gift you gave her for her last few months of life. Kudos to you for rescuing yet another little finch too!

That's too bad about Lesley. It's nice to know she lived a happy life in a loving home over the last few months. And congratulations on your second rescue. When you have the chance, we would like to see a pic of your new finch. :)
