Hi,
I purchased 4 Gouldian Finches for my flock and they are quarantined in a separate room. They have been treated for air sac mites for two weeks.
Due to circumstances (my son getting drums and not wanting to kill the birds with the noise), I will need to move the birds and would like to know if I can move them to the room I keep my other Gouldians in. They would be in a separate cage for at least another 2 weeks, but I would like to know if:
1. there is a chance of air sac mites to spread in the air, instead of direct contact
2. the two treatments have lessened the chance of spreading if indeed it can be airborne
3. if I can safely keep the birds in the same room, separate cages, for the next 2 weeks of quarantine.
Thanks, Laura

Re: Air sac mites
ASM are only transmitted by direct contact. It's not ideal but I would say it's safe to house them in the same room as far as ASM.
If they are carrying an illness it may not be a good idea though. You know best as to how they look to you.
Good luck

Re: Air sac mites
Hi, as long as they are separate them they will be fine to keep in the same room as your Gouldians that are not effected. You can treat all of them as a precaution as it will do no harm to your healthy birds.
