isloocanary
It looks like he's swallowing too much air (which I usually don't see with bird raised chicks). It does happen with hand raised chick's though.
Personally, I would leave it alone.
You don't want to.play around with the crop too much, as it is very fragile.
What are your Societies feeding him?

Could that be from a yeast infection? There's a whole lot of air in there.

add a bit ACV to the societies' water.... if it is yeast it may help get it under control.... 1/1/2 to 2 tbsp of organic ACV to a gallon of water.

Lovezebs, yes its too much air with little food, I tried to empty the crop by holding the chick upside down hoping that it might empty his crop (had read abt this procedure on the net), it was a very dangerous thing to do as it could have easily killed the chick due to aspiration, luckily chick didn't pass away and neither did the air/food come out, so I left it alone, also tried to massage the crop but the crop is so thin like bubble gum. This chick has been like this since the time its crop started developing. I have never seen anything like this in my experience with finches.
debbie276, it could be yeast infection, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that the chick gets better...have no idea how to treat it
cindy, will post more pics tomorrow along with using ACV

isloocanary That is really a lot of air in the crop, I don't think I've ever seen that much air when being fed by Societies. I would suspect a yeast infection. Some people have 'burped' babies successfully, I've never had it work for me, probably because I was too chicken to try it for very long. Please keep us posted.
