I have been trying to tame my Zebras and have been pretty successful (in my opinion). I hand feed them Millet everyday while talking to them, and it has been wonderful to see their trust in me grow from freaking out when I was near the cage to eating millet from my hand. I can now have the cage door completely open and they get to the closest branch (less than a foot from my face) and happily pick away at the millet. This is how i noticed an odd bump on George's wing. Yesterday was when i first noticed it and figured it was maybe a ruffled feather, it was very small. Today when hand-feeding i saw that the brown bump is now much bigger!
He is a little more flighty than Levon, and wont sit still long enough for me to get a good look at it. I tried my best to get a picture, but even though they have a bit of trust in me, they have NONE in my Iphone. They didn't want to let this scary one eyed demon eat them alive, so these are the best pictures i could get amiss the chaos. The bump is brown and looks almost shiny. My first thought was that it maybe was a tick because it got big in just 24 hours...but that makes no sense since its January and they have no contact with the outside. It looks like whatever it is is coming from beneath his feathers because the bump is pushing them up out of the way.
His eating and drinking is normal as far as I know, and his droppings look fine....and as we speak he is singing away without a care in the world. Does anyone know what this might be? Should I be worried?
Mystery bump? VERY worried!

I have never seen this before and I'm sorry I can't help you. Cindy is very familiar with zebras so hopefully she chimes in. Best of luck! Your little guy is beautiful!

If you can hold the bird and get a really good clear close up it may help figure out what has caused this. Could be a feather cyst but need to see it up close.
