I didn't notice any symptoms before the door was painted, so that definitely could have been it.

That is good to know, but here it can get REALLY cold (-20*f) some nights in the winter.
Pigeons, quail, turkeys, chickens, ducks, house sparrow and 1 hand-raised society finch named Mouse
